About this photo and what's in it

Welcome to Fairfield. You may visit but you cannot stay. Our little Indiana town was lost to a federal reservoir project in the early 1970s. Since then, we've attempted to retrieve and massage our history and, on what would have been our 200th anniversary as a town, we've done a pretty nice job.

Once you've clicked the button, you will enjoy an eclectic mix of stories, photos, links and video clips.

Most of it is personal memories, to be shared and re-shared. It's all available for anybody to use, so long as you're doing it for the right reason.

Fairfield was a real community, not just "some old town that was under the lake." Our objective is to keep the memory of the town alive into still another century. Hopefully, that will matter to you.

Disclaimer: As I have aged and have less ability to manage technology, it is likely this website will be out of date and become less relevant. Please take that into consideration. Many people who are named here have passed on and inevitably, we all will. Fairfield is forever, but its people are not. -- June 2021, John.
